Project Overview
The project that we are doing is about exploring the benefits of surface patterns and its relationship between wear and friction. The motivation of this project is to let us have a deeper thought on how the coefficient of the surface’s friction would affect the surfaces itself by using different areas ratios. The goal of this project for us try to gain some knowledge about the health, safety, and quality of part of life and tried to have some ideas of application to the functional surfaces.
There will be a lot of challenges that we might face during the project, one thing that will be a problem is how to use the software to design three different area ratios since none of us is familiar with it, we might take a long time in dealing with software design. Also, we might face technical challenges like accurate calculation of the outwear, and when calculation went wrong, it might affect the rest of the steps. But we hope to have a better understanding of how to build machines that have the capability to detect wear and friction after this project.
Finally, we hope that our final deliverables will be able to carry out a Comparative study of the behavior of Deterministic surface patterns. And our design project will be able to help not only us but others about the questions on what surface areas ratio and friction will be affecting the wear.
